American professional rally motorist Ken Block has a new toy for Hoonigan’s coming Gymkhana series of vids. After drifting each over the place while climbing Pikes Peak in Climbkhana, German automaker Audi wants Block to do it each over again with an each-electric vehicle.

As anticipated, Block’s new auto needs a name after passing on his cherished 1965 Ford Mustang “ Hoonicorn” to son Lia Block – who, by the way, can seriously drift a auto like her pater. Enter the Audi S1e-tron quattro Hoonitron, paying homage to the brand’s Audi Sport quattro S1 that dominated Pikes Peak in themid-1980s.

And yes, this one-off, each-electric racing machine is debuting in Block and Hoonigan’s “ Elektrikhana” videotape coming coming time. “ It was about creating a ultramodern, each-electric interpretation of the S1 Pikes Peak,” said Marc Lichte, head of Audi Design. “ The challenges were tremendous, and we only had four weeks from the first delineation to the final design.”

While creating a new auto from scrape in four weeks deserves a order of merit, the Audi Design platoon need not look far for design alleviation. Inheriting the original S1 quattro’s distinctive body panels, sharp lines, and expansive bodies, Hoonitron is basically a “ topmost successes” reanimation of Audi’s all- conquering quaint rally auto.

What’s more, development for the S1 Hoonitron is at Audi Sport’s Neckarsulm headquarters, the same place where the product Audi RSe-tron GT earned its bodies. Audi has yet to define what’s powering this excellent rally auto. Still, it mentioned it has two electric motors, all- wheel drive, a carbon- fiber lattice, and a host of safety outfit commanded by the FIA, like an electric kill switch, a roll pen, and a fire repression system.

Oh, and Audi also said the auto has “ power galore,” which is apt for a rallying wizard used to constrain gasoline buses with further than power. “ Spinning into a donut at 93 mph (150 km/ h) directly from a deadlock – just using my right bottom – is an each-new experience for me,” said Ken Block. “ There were a lot of new effects for me to learn then.”

The Audi S1 quattro Hoonitron remains a prototype at this point, but Block spent a couple of days in Germany to take the product mule for a short demoiselle spin. All we know is we ca n’t stay to see it in action at Pikes Peak for the Elektrikhana trick driving videotape.
