Competition between the US and China has been going on for decades, although recently, many focus of competition between these countries has shifted into space. Both NASA and the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) are world leaders in developing the next generation of space exploration technology.
In recent days, the tension between two leaders in space exploration has become clearer when Nasa Administrator Bill Nelson expressed his concern that China had plans to occupy the moon. While China has denied this, there are many other factors that show it will be difficult for the takeover of the moon altogether.
BACKGROUND: Starting the takeover of the Moon
In talking to a German newspaper, Nelson said, “We must be very worried that China landed on the moon and said: ‘This is ours now and you remain out.'” After this interview was published, China denied this claim, throwing them had insults back in Nasa. “This is not the first time for the head of NASA to lie down through his teeth and smear China,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian.
