Nokia phones in the future will not come with the Zeiss brand as they have done for more than five years. HMD Global, a company that made Nokia branded mobile phones, has confirmed that its partnership with Zeiss Optics has ended. In fact, the relationship between the two brands ended in 2021, but the company has now officially confirmed the news after Nokiamob noticed that branding had been deleted from the Zeiss website.

A statement from Zeiss said, “After a long and successful collaboration, in 2021 ZEISS and HMD Global have agreed to not extend their non-exclusive partnerships that include collaboration for branded smartphone imaging technology” Nokia “with Zeiss as Consultant and Development Partner “We have asked HMD Global to comment at the end of the partnership, but we haven’t heard the news.

Because the partnership ended in 2021, the last telephone from HMD Global which included branding was the Nokia XR20. There is no official reason considering why Zeiss’s partnership will not continue, so it is unclear whether it is a joint decision between the two brands. Citra has not yet become the peak of the Nokia brand since HMD Global has taken over. However, the company has succeeded with smartphone photography on handsets like the Nokia 9 Pureview, which is one of the best camera phones in its time.

When Nokia made its own cellphone, the company also partnered with Zeiss. Nokia N90 2005 is the first phone collaborated by both companies, and continues with other handsets such as Nokia N95, Nokia 808 Pureview, and Nokia Lumia series. HMD Global partnered with the brand in 2017, bringing Zeiss Optics to a handset like the Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 9 Pureview.

Zeiss has not yet resigned from the cellular photography space completely, because this brand partners with Vivo in 2020. Zeiss works with HMD Global and Vivo simultaneously, so we might see optical companies provide their expertise to other Android phone brands in the near future. Zeiss was involved in the Vivo X80 series which was revealed in China in May.
